BSK Notus 350 is Now SAP Listed: What It Means for Merchants & Trade
The BSK Notus 350 MVHR unit is now SAP listed, giving merchants, contractors, developers and ventilation professionals access to independently tested performance data when the unit is being considered for applicable residential projects.
For trade customers, this isn't simply another specification to add to a datasheet. SAP-listed performance can make it easier to provide customers, designers and energy assessors with recognised product data when an MVHR unit is being selected for a new-build ventilation system.
The latest SAP performance information for the BSK Notus includes:
- SAP heat exchange efficiency of 80–86%
- SAP Specific Fan Power from 0.57 W/l/s
- Tested airflow rates from 15–51 l/s
- Internal leakage test – Pass
- External leakage test – Pass

What Does SAP Listed Mean?
SAP stands for the Standard Assessment Procedure and is used when assessing the energy performance of dwellings.
Product-specific performance information for mechanical ventilation systems can be recorded within the Product Characteristics Database, allowing relevant tested data to be used as part of applicable SAP calculations.
The official Product Characteristics Database (PCDB) includes a dedicated mechanical ventilation section where product performance information can be searched. This provides a useful independent reference for designers, assessors and other professionals working with ventilation equipment.
For merchants and trade counters, the important point is that a SAP-listed MVHR unit comes with recognised performance information that can support specification conversations rather than relying solely on headline manufacturer figures.

Understanding the BSK Notus SAP Figures
Two of the most important figures associated with the new listing are heat exchange efficiency and Specific Fan Power.
SAP Heat Exchange Efficiency of 80–86%
MVHR works by extracting stale air from areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms while supplying fresh filtered air to habitable rooms.
Rather than simply exhausting all of the heat contained within the outgoing air, the heat exchanger transfers a proportion of this heat to the incoming fresh-air stream.
For SAP purposes, the BSK Notus has recorded heat exchange efficiency between 80% and 86%, depending on the tested system configuration.
This is separate from the Notus' general product specification, which states heat recovery efficiency of up to 90%. When a project requires SAP data, the applicable SAP-listed figures should therefore be used.
Specific Fan Power From 0.57 W/l/s
Specific Fan Power, usually shortened to SFP, relates the electrical power used by the ventilation fans to the airflow they deliver.
The BSK Notus has recorded SAP Specific Fan Power from 0.57 W/l/s, depending on configuration.
Together, heat exchange efficiency and SFP provide useful performance information when the unit is being assessed as part of a complete residential ventilation design.
A Flexible MVHR Option for New-Build Projects
SAP listing adds to a specification already designed around installation flexibility.
The BSK Notus 350 can be installed vertically or horizontally and its configuration can be electronically changed between left- and right-hand orientations. Multiple spigot positions and drain points provide further flexibility when coordinating the unit with the proposed duct layout.
For installers and contractors, this can be particularly useful on projects where plant-room, utility-room or service-space layouts leave limited room for a conventional MVHR installation.
Smart Control as Standard
Control is another area where installers and end users increasingly expect more from an MVHR system.
The BSK Notus includes an internal humidity sensor and Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing system settings to be accessed through the BSK mobile app. Available functions include monitoring indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity, adjusting fan speeds, setting daily or weekly schedules and controlling compatible optional heaters.
An optional touchscreen controller is also available, while Modbus connectivity allows integration with compatible Building Management Systems.
